Knowing that many members wish to take their crafting and gathering to the next level we've decided to hold company spiritbonding parties during this next weekend of August 2-3. This is so members can spiritbond and convert the materia they need for max melds.
I'm going to be going over a lot of info here to ensure that our members have the necessary information to make the most of their time and gil (and time IS gil!).
Baby Steps What is all this aboot anyhow? Thanks for asking Canadian Greg! When it comes to crafting 2/3 star items or gathering 1/2 star materials having HQ gear and super tools/offhands isn't enough. To get on this level your gear needs to get melded with tons of materia!
Preliminaries How do I know what materia I need and which ones to meld?
Unfortunately the more materia you meld to your gear the lower the chances of successfully melding the next one, therefore you'll want to get a good amount of materia if you're looking to max meld. The two guides above will show you the best equipment to meld and the various meld caps along with a suggested meld order to lower the ultimate gil cost.
Preparation To make the spiritbonding process go faster there are a few things that we can do.
Have HQ gear - Anecdotal reports are that this increases spiritbond rate around 20%. Level 2 Spiritbond FC action - Anecdotal reports are that this also increases spiritbond by around 20%. Meld materia to gear - This greatly increases spiritbond rate, the more materia the faster it gets, and the best part is any materia will work! Even those cheap grade 1 elemental resistences. Spiritbonding Potion - Can be purchased from your Grand Company, increases spiritbonding rate by +5 (+5 what? who knows) OPTIONAL : Meteor Survivors Ring - Obtained from a sidequest at Bronze Lake, an extra can be purchased from the Calamity Salvager in each major city; gives +3 spiritbond a piece. (Note. I have made these optional since some people online have claimed that the +3 spiritbond these rings give is negligible in the long run and that people are better off equipping convertible gear in these slots to get more materia. I personally haven't done any testing so for now I'll label these as optional and leave it up to you whether you want to wear these.)
I (Khuja) am able and willing to craft most of the gear needed for spiritbonding for members that aren't able to craft or acquire the gear themselves, I'm only asking that members cover raw mats and crystal shard costs, I can only make Weaver and Goldsmith items, you'll have to go elsewhere for the other crafts.
Gear The following gear will convert mostly into grade III materia with a small chance at grade IV, the only requirement being that gear is ilvl 45+. Many gear slots have multiple pieces of equipment that can be spiritbonded, in the interest of completeness I have listed all gear that can be used in spiritbonding.
Slots with more than 1 piece of equipment are ordered from most practical to least (in my opinion). (i.e a Woolen Deerstalker is more practical to make than a Felt Beret, which is more practical than a Patricians Wedge Cap). Practical being defined as difficulty to make, number of materials needed, cost, etc.
